Move for Hunger and Priority Moving work to Stamp Out Hunger

Adam Lowy is the Executive Director of Move for Hunger.  Recently Adam announced the following:

I am pleased to announce that we now have more than 85 movers in 30 states working with Move For Hunger. In just under one year, we have collected more than 30,000 pounds of food for our local food banks. This is a tremendous accomplishment in the effort to fight hunger across the country.

As we enter the busy summer season, there’s no time like present to increase our collection amount. I challenge each of you to collect at least 50 pounds of food by the end of June. The food we collect makes a significant difference to those who truly need it. Remember, even one pound of food can go a long way in feeding a hungry neighbor in need.

Move For Hunger not only benefits the local food banks, but also can have a positive impact on your business. Let your customers know what you are doing as a good corporate citizen to give back to the community in which you serve. Move For Hunger is a unique program and an excellent tool to help boost sales.

Are you up to the challenge? If everyone does their part in collecting food from customers, we easily can reach a total of more than 4,300 pounds of food collected by the end of June.

MOVE For HUNGER has been created to help strengthen the efforts of our community’s food banks.  By teaming up with moving companies across the United States, MOVE For HUNGER will bring a tremendous amount of relief to those most desperate for our help.

Approximately 40 million people relocated in the United States in 2008.  MOVE For HUNGER will enlist those who are selling their homes and  relocating to donate unopened food that they will not take to their new destination. Our professional moving staff will assist in  boxing the donations.  MOVE For HUNGER will then make arrangements for these items to be delivered to local food banks throughout the country.  With your help, we will turn the average food drive into one of the nation’s largest, year-round service programs influencing millions across this great country.

It is during these trying times that our nation’s charitable organizations most need your support.  Your donations will directly impact thousands of families living locally throughout your own communities.  MOVE For HUNGER is truly thankful for your generosity

About Move for Hunger:

Founded in Neptune, NJ, by the Lowy family, Move For Hunger was established to strengthen the efforts of our communities’ food banks, while actively engaging in America’s hunger fight. By using our unique knowledge and experience, Move For Hunger will leverage its existing national network of transportation companies to create one of the nation’s largest, year-round service programs.

Move For Hunger enlists those who are relocating to donate unopened food that they will not take to their new destination. As you are aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” during the moving process.  Unfortunately, some of this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away.

Every time our movers go out on an estimate or perform a move, they leave behind a box for food items. You can pack it yourself, or their professional moving staff will pack it for you. Move For Hunger then makes arrangements for these items to be delivered to the local food bank, where it can be distributed to families in need.  Click Here to find a moving company in your area working with us to fight hunger.

We really need to do all that we can to get rid of hunger here in the US. We seem to be focusing so much on other countries and we need to take care of ourselves first. Get the hunger out of here and then we can work on getting the rest of the world taken care of. If we can’t take care of ourselves how can we take care of others?

Hunger needs to be wiped out. It amazes me the amount of food that’s thrown away in leading countries, despite the fact that millions of kids worldwide are starving to death.
